very vintage of Chateau Figeac has been put into 100% new oak barrels for an average of 18-20 months since the late 1960s.

ew barrels, whose inside is not already impregnated with wine tannin, "breathe" better than used barrels. The former provide a slow, gentle intake of air from the surrounding atmosphere.

he large proportion of Cabernet grapes at Figeac gives the wine enough structure to absorb oak aromas without being overpowered. The choice of grape varieties also accounts for the wine's excellent ageing potential.

igeac's second wine, "La Grange Neuve de Figeac" comes primarily from young vines. It is aged in barrels that have already been used to age one vintage of Figeac.
